Designed for office use, the Mitsubishi 9850 HB pencil has a firm white eraser that erases pencil marks easily and does not harden. It is a fine choice for general use.
In the first half of the 20th century, Japanese pencils were labeled with their intended use because of regulations set to monitor the prices pencils were being sold for. Pencils designated for certain uses were meant to have certain characteristics and qualities that were consistent with other brands and reflected in their price. Though this isn't used anymore, the inclusion of the designations is still included in most pencil designs.
